Worms Ultimate Mayhem: Comparison to Worms 4

Worms Ultimate Mayhem: Comparison to Worms 4

This one slipped by me.

For a few years now, Team 17 have been updating and re-releasing Worms on various downloadable game services. They have always been the more successful 2D offering. The one title that really got me hooked though was there third 3D Worms game – Worms 4: Mayhem. An absolute blast in multiplayer it is an unusual but thoroughly entertaining night in with a few friends. How does Worms Ultimate Mayhem on Xbox 360 stack up? Continue reading »

RETROspective REview: Medal of Honor (2010)

RETROspective REview: Medal of Honor (2010)

The recent remake of Medal of Honor was not a title I purchased based on review scores. As an unashamed, newly-converted addict to the brilliance of Battlefield, I couldn’t resist the pull of a free Beta trial for the upcoming Battlefield 3. However, I was pleasantly surprised by a thoroughly entertaining single player campaign. Although … Continue reading »

They’re heeere! F.3.A.R. Review

They’re heeere! F.3.A.R. Review

Pick up gun. Shoot everything that moves. Rinse and repeat… It’s the standard formula for a vast swathe of first and third person shooters out there, each with their own unique little twist on an otherwise very familiar (and very profitable) formula. We’ve been following the hype around the F.E.A.R. franchise’s third instalment, and a … Continue reading »

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D – Review

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D – Review

A franchise that started way back in 1996, that spawned the world’s most evil company, Umbrella Corp, 14 sequels and 8 films has been brought kicking and screaming to Nintendo’s latest handheld, but does it live up to the recent hype?

Turtle Beach PX5 – Review

Turtle Beach PX5 – Review

The combination of videogame consoles and headsets has existed ever since the Sega Mega Drive landed in 1989. Bringing alongside its jaw droppingly beautiful 16-Bit graphics was full stereo sound, but only if you plugged in a set of £2.99 headphones from OurPrice. Times have changed, and the £2.99 headset now requires you to move the … Continue reading »

Duke Nukem Forever: Review

Duke Nukem Forever: Review

Pure, simple, fun. For a game that has taken 15 years, multiple court hearings and four developers to complete, Duke Nukem Forever (DNF) is a glorious throwback to classic 1990′s first person shooters, and as stated by the Duke himself, “forever takes a long time” but thankfully not much has changed.

L.A. Noire: Review – A Detective Calls

L.A. Noire: Review – A Detective Calls

So after all this hype is it any cop? Or is its mere existence a crime? Ed stops his punning right now and gets down to some serious work. From the Director of The Getaway and a new studio from Australia (Team Bondi), L.A. Noire is a gritty detective story that loves film noir so … Continue reading »

Dead Or Alive Dimensions: Review

Dead Or Alive Dimensions: Review

Breasts and brutal combos, that’s why you bought a 3DS right?…. Its been only a few short months since the release of the 3DS and much has been said about its ability to render children blind, cause mass famine, and generally (in our office) is thought to be responsible for preventing Rapture on the 21st May 2011. No mean feat, however, there has … Continue reading »

Gears of War 3 BETA – Review

If you haven’t already pre-ordered this game, do it. Do it now. So, the public Gears of War 3 BETA has been up for almost a week now and I can tell you that this game is simply amazing. Pure and simple, Epic have taken everything that was bad about the first two instalments and thrown it … Continue reading »

Motorola Xoom- First opinions

Just had a play with one of these. Overall, pretty damn good. Compared to the iPad 2? Faster, more responsive, sleeker, more grown up buttons, proper keyboard with a TAB key, MUCH greater browser functionality (including ‘incognito mode….) equal video and camera capabilities but with the added versatility of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).

Super Monkey Ball: Hits Windows Phone 7

Sega announced this week that the brand new reworked, original, exactly as it was port of Super Monkey Ball is now available to download on the Windows Phone 7 marketplace for £3.99. Having only been out for a matter of days there are already some pretty unkind reviews for this iteration. It is a carbon … Continue reading »

Shift 2 – First Thoughts Review

Oh Dear Lord. This game makes me squeal like a pig in custard. Or, more relevantly, a fat bloke wedged into a turbo charged V8 Caterham Superlight 500, on a 150mph follow-through. I intend to be rampantly biased about this game as i’m a car enthusiast but then, i think that the fact that it keeps a … Continue reading »

Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3DS Review

Now the initial hype has settled, and masses have had time to raise their concerns once more about little “James” feeling nauseous after playing with his new 3DS, because he is either too young to experience any form of stimulation, or can’t read the plentiful warnings on the product that states “play no longer than 30 mins” … Continue reading »

Street Fighter 4: 3DS Review

Here Comes a New Challenger!! Quite possibly the best game available in the UK on launch day, Super Street Fighter IV manages to capture all the excitement and freshness of SFIV’s original release back in July 2009 on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nintendo 3DS: First Thoughts: Review

WOW!!!!! After waiting for what felt like an eternity, the 3DS finally has arrived. Having decided not to jump into the 3D space until this point, I have been somewhat sceptical of the potential that 3D could bring video games, and entertainment in general. Having sat through Avatar, UP and several other 3D films at … Continue reading »

Halo Reach: Defiant Map Pack Review

Yes, that’s right, this is the first map pack that has been released since Bungie gave Microsoft the big heave-ho, but fear not, it’s still Halo! After the dissappointment of the Noble DLC, its time for the new kids on the block to pick up where Bungie left off, and instill confidence that there is Life After Bungie (LAB).

RETROspective REviews: Resistance 2

Having joined the Playstation revolution late in the day, picking up a copy of Resistance1 several months after release, and still not having put the disc in the tray by the time Resistance 2 hit the stores, it would be fair to say the Resistance franchise doesn’t excite me as much as the next FPS … Continue reading »
