Patrick Seybold has stated on the Playstation Blog that the reinstating of the announced services, which were due this week, has been delayed. Another date has not yet been provided so we will have to wait and see for now.
“When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system.”
There is still the possibility that it will be up this week, although it seems unlikely based on the statement.
My guess would be, they knew they would miss the deadline and didn’t want to give another without being certain. The more they report, the more they are accountable for. Hopefully Sony’s uber-geeks will crack this one soon.
Seybold finished off the blog post with something to make you feel a little better: “trust me when I say we’re doing everything we can to make it happen. We will update you with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience of this network outage.”
