Rumours are afoot on the internet that the PSN will be back up at some point tomorrow. The information is of the “my mates, dad’s, best man for his second wedding said….” variety rather than Ken Kutaragi has sworn on his hamster that the service will definitely go live.
It is rumoured that Sony have taken the opportunity to introduce new levels of security that may do away with auto-login, and require additional updates to all existing software titles for them to run, however, as we said, none of this has actually been confirmed by Sony themselves officially or otherwise.
Sony have now released a statemet indicating that the hackers may have been able to access and collect personal details and information for all 70 million PSN users. They are not suggesting that they have definately, but recommend changing your password details when the service goes back up.
If the service doesn’t go live tomorrow, I will be forced to consult with Uri Gellar and get the spoon bending wizard to lend the genius’ at HQ a hand in rebuilding the security on their servers!
